The Park Hill School Board promotes healthy, high-quality school meals, recognizing that students need adequate, nourishing food in order to learn, grow, and maintain good health.  

To assure students have access to healthy meals, the district participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs which provide students who qualify with a free or reduced cost breakfast and lunch.   

To accommodate students who purchase school meals, payment options include an online payment system that will take credit and debit cards, or cash and check payments may be made at all school sites.  

The Park Hill School District also provides multiple alerts to notify parents/guardians of their student’s account balance to help ensure they have money available to purchase a school breakfast or lunch:

  • Parents may set an alert on the payment website that will notify them of a low account balance.

  • Automated telephone calls are made weekly to notify parents of a low balance.

  • E-mails are sent weekly to notify parents of a low balance.

  • Students are alerted of a low balance and provided with a payment envelope when purchasing a meal.

  • Students who do not have money on their account or in hand to cover the cost of a meal at the time of service will be permitted to charge a full meal.  Ala carte snacks and beverages may not be charged.  

  • When a charge has occurred the parent/guardian will be notified of the negative balance:

  • Automated telephone calls are made twice weekly to notify parents of a negative balance.

  • E-mails are sent weekly to notify parents of a negative balance.

  • Students are alerted and provided with a payment envelope when charging a meal.

    If charges continue without repayment:

  • Parent/guardian may be contacted by school staff to offer services or assistance as needed.

  • Parent/guardian may be encouraged to submit a Meal Benefits Application if one has not been completed during the current school year. 

District employees are mandated by the state of Missouri to report any instances of suspected abuse or neglect to the Children’s Division (CD) of the Department of Social Services.  District personnel will report to the CD any instance where a student’s arrival at school with no provision for food leads to a reasonable cause to suspect neglect. 

Employees are not allowed to charge meals and must provide payment at the time of service. 

In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA.  Persons with disabilities who require alternative means of communication for program information (e.g. Braille, large print, audiotape, American Sign Language, etc.), should contact the Agency (State or local) where they applied for benefits. Individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing or have speech disabilities may contact USDA through the Federal Relay Service at (800) 877-8339. Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.  To file a program complaint of discrimination, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, (AD-3027) found online at:, and at any USDA office, or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form. Breakfast includes an entree, fruit, juice and milk and is available daily for $1.50 at the elementary schools and $1.75 or $1.90 (premium) at the middle and high schools.


Lunch includes an entree, fruit, juice, vegetable, bread, and milk for $2.40 at the elementary schools and $2.85 at the middle and high schools. Middle and high-school students may also choose an upscale entrée selection from our premium meals for $3.30.  Ala carte food selections are available and priced individually. Adult meals are $3.50.


The Elementary a la carte program provides variety and choice to our students.  We offer only healthy options that comply with the Smart Snack guidelines established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).  Information on these nutritional guidelines

A variety of a la carte options will be offered daily to students.  Frozen dairy or fruit-based ice cream treats will be offered as an a la carte snack option each Tuesday during the school year.  Frozen dairy or fruit-based ice cream treats will not be offered as an a la carte option on any other day of the week.  In addition, we will limit this option to grades 2 thru 5. 

Parents who do not want their students to access the frozen dairy or fruit-based ice cream treats can contact Nutrition Services at 816-359-4090 and request that ice cream purchases be blocked on your student’s lunch account.

Adventure Club, the district's before- and after-school child care program, offers a snack to all participants each day.  

Online Meal Payment

The Park Hill Nutrition Services Department uses SchoolCafe for online payments to meal accounts. Visit SchoolCafe for registering for an account, viewing purchase history, setting low balance notifications or automatic account replenishment or account restrictions, as well as completing an online free and reduced meal benefit application.  A 4.75% service fee will apply for each online transaction.  Students also have the option of registering for an account to monitor their balances.
