High School Marching Bands Wrap up Season with Honors

The Park Hill High School marching band finished the season at MarchFest in Cameron, Missouri, placing first in Class 5 indoor drumline competition, first in the Class 5 field competition and second in the Class 5 parade competition. Davie Voelker received the Outstanding Performer Award for his solo in the combined Class 4 and 5 field competition. The band also marched in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the Capital City Marching Band Championships on Sept. 29 and placed second in Class AA preliminaries and third in open class finals. The PHHS marching band director is Ky Hascall.

At the Valhalla Marching Band Festival in Springfield, Missouri, Park Hill South placed first in music for Class C, second overall in Class C and third place overall out of 27 bands. Lily Robertson and Amanda Reece were named best soloists in Class C. Park Hill South also competed at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri, placing 14th out of 32 bands at the event. The Park Hill South marching band director is Andrew Gillespie.
