Union Chapel Elementary Student Advances to National Spelling Bee

Peyton Shaw, sixth-grade student at Plaza Middle School, placed second, and Hannah Wenzel, sixth-grade student at Plaza, placed third.

The other top winners were Rouida Siddiqui, seventh grade, Lakeview Middle School; Sailor Dreps, eighth grade, Congress Middle School; Carter Wallace, sixth grade, Plaza;  Jai Patel, eighth grade, Lakeview; Beau Anderson, eighth grade, Congress; Emaan Arshad, fifth grade, Tiffany Ridge Elementary; Logan Maslowski, fifth grade, Union Chapel; and Jessica Yu, sixth grade, Plaza.

Students in fifth through eighth grades were invited to take a computerized spelling test. The top 60 from the computerized exam advanced to the district spelling bee. The top 10 finishers earned medals, and the top three received trophies.
