Term of Office: 2010-2019

About Me:

I retired from teaching in 2008 after 24 years in the classroom. I taught journalism at Park Hill and Park Hill South high schools. I also worked in corporate communications for 10 years.

I have lived in the school district for 30 years. My husband, Michael, and I hosted two foreign exchange students who attended Park Hill High School.

I am a graduate of Culver-Stockton College. I earned my postgraduate degree in journalism from the University of Kansas.

I am active in Northland organizations through my work with the Kansas City Symphony Guild, the Bell Road Barn Players, and the Southern Platte Fire Protection district. My husband and I support many educational and cultural non-profit organizations.

The Best Thing About the Park Hill Schools:

You only have to walk into any of the district’s classrooms to know the best thing about Park Hill: the active learning that happens when a caring, professional educator inspires and instructs classroom of eager young learners.

Most Rewarding Experience as a BOARD Member:

The best thing about being a Board member is earning the trust and respect of the community, during the campaign and as I begin my term.

Critical Issues Facing Park Hill:

Today even a well-run and respected school district like Park Hill faces extraordinary challenges: the economic downturn, changes in district demographics, and state and federal legislation.
