Journalism Students Earn Student Awards from Emmy Organization

The award, which includes a $10,000 scholarship, honors the career of the late journalist Mike Wallace and recognizes an individual who has great leadership potential in broadcast journalism.

Elder will receive the recognition at the 37th Annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards in New York City this fall.

She also earned the Student Pillar of Excellence for craft talent from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Mid-America Chapter.

The honor recognizes the high school student with the best on-air performance. Elder will be recognized at the Emmy Gala on Oct. 1 in Branson, Mo.

PHHS senior Jordan Evans received honorable mention for craft editing. “Trojan TV News,” which Elder and Evans produce, earned honorable mention for best student newscast in mid-America.
