Lakeview Student Wins Spelling Bee, Advances to National Bee

Lakeview seventh grader Allyson Scribner took second at the district bee, and Plaza Middle School sixth grader Ainsley Higgins took third.

The other top winners were Ian Flowers, eighth grade, Lakeview; Quinn Bieberly, eighth grade, Lakeview; Brian Humphrey, fifth grade, Union Chapel Elementary; Cooper Mathisen, seventh grade, Lakeview; Gracie Moran, fifth grade, Line Creek Elementary; Emily Smith, fifth grade, Hawthorn Elementary; Laney Toigo, fifth grade, Southeast Elementary; Riley Parman, sixth grade, Plaza; Parker Turpin, fifth grade, Tiffany Ridge Elementary; Ellie Simpson, eighth grade, Congress Middle School; and Ashton Fisher, sixth grade, Plaza.

Students in fifth through eighth grades were invited to take a computerized spelling test. The top 60 from the computerized exam advanced to the district spelling bee. The top 10 finishers earned medals, and the top three received trophies.
